OUR PRIORITIES

OUR PRIORITIES

Protecting and Promoting the School Sport Movement Worldwide

The International School Sport Committee focuses its work on three strategic priorities designed to strengthen school sport as a safe, educational and inclusive environment for children and young people.

Our priorities are structured around two complementary pillars: protecting school sport through safety, dialogue and responsible practices, and promoting school sport through education, knowledge and curriculum development.

PROTECTING

Building safe, respectful and responsible environments for every young person.

Safe Sport

Every child and young person has the right to participate in sport in a safe and respectful environment. The ISC promotes policies, practices and educational resources that help schools and sporting communities prevent abuse, discrimination, violence, harassment and other forms of harm. Our objective is to support environments where protection, wellbeing and dignity are an integral part of school sport.

Focus Areas

  • Child safeguarding
  • Prevention and awareness
  • Safe participation
  • Inclusion and non-discrimination
  • Responsible leadership
  • Education for coaches, teachers and students

Conciliation in Sport

School sport should also be a space for dialogue, respect and peaceful conflict resolution. The ISC promotes conciliation as a practical and educational approach to disputes that may arise between students, schools, families, teachers, coaches or sporting institutions. The aim is to encourage solutions based on dialogue, fairness and mutual understanding before conflicts escalate.

Focus Areas

  • Dialogue and mediation
  • Conflict prevention
  • Fair and accessible procedures
  • Respect for participants
  • Educational dispute resolution
  • Cooperation between institutions

PROMOTING

Strengthening knowledge, education and learning through school sport.

Education & Curriculum

The ISC works to strengthen the educational dimension of school sport and physical education. Participation in sport should be accompanied by knowledge. Students should not only practise sport, but also understand the disciplines they encounter, their rules, principles, values and responsibilities.

The ISC supports the development, organization and dissemination of educational materials and school sport resources designed to strengthen learning within physical education and school sport programmes. These resources may support schools, teachers, students and education authorities by providing structured and accessible content related to sport, safety, fair play, participation and sporting knowledge.

Our Long-Term Objective

The ISC advocates for high-quality school sport materials to become a recognized component of physical education and school programmes. Through cooperation with education authorities, sport governing bodies and international institutions, the ISC seeks to encourage the progressive inclusion of appropriate educational resources within national curricula and school programmes.
