The Complete and Inside Fan Guide to Auburn Football
June 6th, 2011 . by adminIt is a fun and scary time to be a fan of Auburn Football. One the one side you are coming off an undefeated season in which you won the NCAA National Championship and SEC Championship with a historic rally against rival Alabama on the way. On the other side you are losing your top player on offense with Heisman Winner Cam Newton and top standout on defense in Nick Fairley. That is the way of college football though. Time for spring and time to reload the Tigers.
During the Spring Game on April 16th Tiger fans got a glimpse of their future offense with Barrett Trotter and Clint Moseley competing for the starting QB job. Trotter threw the only touchdown of the day with neither of them throwing an interception. Coach Gene Chizik has said that the Tigers won’t name a starter until closer to the season opener in August.
On defense Auburn is looking to fill holes at all three levels with two linebackers, two lineman and three defensive backs leaving from their starting lineup. Coming out of the spring game the defensive secondary and linebacker looked to be ready to go. Defensive line will always be a question mark until the real bullets fly in the SEC.
